Tunnel Overview and Specifications

Location: Site is in northeast Mooresville NC, at 135 Godspeed Ln, one mile east of Hwy 115.
Tunnel design: Full-scale, closed-jet, contoured and optionally slotted wall test section, with an open return. Optimized for stock-bodied race cars (open-wheel applicability has not yet been determined)
Test section size: 11.9 ft high by 19 ft wide by 56 ft long
Air Flow: 125-130 mph, using 22 individually speed-controlled 100 hp AC electric fans
Boundary layer control: Continuous blowing/suction groundplane ahead and under the car, plus spinning tires
Balance: External 6 component strain gage balance, vehicle frame rail end fixturing, integrated vehicle height control, spinning tire mechanisms, plus/minus 3 degrees yaw
Wheelbase range: 103-112 inches, Track range: 60 inches

Data acquisition system: 3x64 channel 16 bit, 2x32 channel 16 bit
2D aero pressure grid built into floor beneath the car
Output to Excel, with default layout or customer-supplied layout
